The owner, Rupal Mamtani, has as diverse and interesting background as her store. Of Indian ancestry but born in Uganda, Africa and raised in England, she moved to America at the age of 18. Mamtani began her career in home furnishings 10 years ago importing one-of-kind antiques and developed a business selling them to the retail and design communities. Now, Global Living offers these treasures to customers and creates a new global experience.
Message From RUPAL
"Travel is in my blood. I like to call myself a Modern Day Gypsy. For 3 generations, my family has been voyaging from India to Uganda to Great Britain to the US.
As a manufacturer, Bluefish Home has been passionate about introducing hand crafted furniture to retailers and designers around the globe for 10 years…The journey started in India and led us around the world to Bulgaria, Ukraine, Brazil, Indonesia, and Honduras.
Global Living began as a dream for us to combine our global travels and manufacturing experience and become a purveyor of world furnishings and travel encounters. The Global Living store is a marriage of unique finds and hand crafted creations from artisans around the world mixed with urban home furnishings.
In our travels we have been greeted by local villagers who offer us century old doors….tribal dowry chests....windows from ancient temples and palaces….vintage textiles…
We draw inspiration from this offering and we hand select items that we would consider for our own home. And we enhance old world pieces and combine them with new ideas. An old window shutter is reborn by creating a body of reclaimed wood to make a cupboard. Or the paint from a century old door is stripped to reveal layers and layers of beautiful paint in varying hues of fuchsia and teal to bring a blaze of color to your home. Salvaged parts of stately columns are made into candle holders and bold bookends. We are inspired to bring you the very best of the old and marry it with the new to create a timeless piece of furniture.
We invite you to journey with us and hopefully enjoy these vintage treasures in your own home.”
